I first started playing guitar from the age of nine on a battered, old, nylon string flamenco guitar which was a hand-me-down from my dad. After years of noodling in front of the TV  I started playing in several local bands throughout my teens. I then went on to pass GCSEs and A-Levels in Music as well as the grade 8 Rockschool exam.

This then lead me to studying music at degree level at the University of Surrey, graduating with a 2:1 in 2009. This covered many different aspects of both music performance and musical academia. I then went on to complete the Masters degree course at Surrey University where I specialised in Popular Musics, graduating in 2010 with Merit. This was a much more specialised course, giving a greater insight in to Popular Musics.

Since then, as well as teaching, I have performed in pit bands for musical theater productions, played as a session guitarist for many musical projects, and played in function bands for various events.
